Light in the Distance

Cast about by stormy seas
seeking calm, safety, and surrender
looking for the lighthouse in the dark.

Waves crashing,
wind howling,
ship rocking,
threatening to capsize and take me under.

There seems no end in sight
for the storm around me
rages on and on as far as I can see.

I see a shimmer in the distance,
it is oh so far away,
will I make it in time
before the waves take me down.

I know the land is near,
I just need to fight,
fight my way through the storm
to the safety of land.

Guided by the light,
I know I will find my way
I know the storm will not take me
I know the light will save me
I know the light will be my salvation
